It replaces the traditional manual process of card issuance with an online, secure, and automated platform. Through this system, beneficiaries can register, verify their service details, and activate their Smart Card for use in both online and offline CSD purchases.

This Smart Card ensures that only authorized beneficiaries can avail of canteen facilities as per their entitlement. It also helps maintain accurate records of purchases and prevents misuse. The online process reduces paperwork, minimizes waiting time, and enables digital tracking of applications.


Following CSD Beneficiaries are Required to Apply through Physical Application Forms through Canteen:

Certain categories of beneficiaries must still apply manually (offline) through their nearest Unit Run Canteen (URC), as their details may not be available online or require special verification.

Categories include:

  1. War Widows / Widows of Deceased Defence Personnel

  2. Next of Kin (NOK) of Deceased Personnel

  3. World War II Veterans and Their Dependents

  4. Gallantry Awardees (if not already registered online)

  5. Disabled Ex-Servicemen (requiring manual verification)

  6. Retired Defence Civilians Not Covered Under SPARSH

  7. Dependents of Serving/Retired Personnel Without Online Access

  8. Any Other Special Cases as Directed by CSD/KSB/ZSB


Documents Required for Physical Application (Offline Mode):

  1. Application Form (available at nearest CSD Canteen / URC)

  2. Service/Discharge Book Copy (self-attested)

  3. PPO (Pension Payment Order) or SPARSH PPO Printout

  4. Aadhaar Card (applicant and dependent, if applicable)

  5. PAN Card (for Ex-Serviceman or Widow/NOK)

  6. Passport Size Photograph (recent – 2 copies)

  7. Proof of Address (Aadhaar/Voter ID/Utility Bill)

  8. Dependency Certificate (for dependents, if applicable)

  9. Death Certificate (in case of widow/NOK applications)

  10. Gallantry Award Certificate (if applicable)

  11. Medical Disability Certificate (for disabled ESM)
